SICILY. Leontini. Circa 450-440 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 17.00 g, 7 h). Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. ΛEONTI-N-O-N Head of a lion with open jaws to right; around, four barley grains. Boehringer, Münzgeschichte, 52 var. (same obverse die). Gulbenkian 213 (same dies). HGC 2, 667. SNG ANS 237 (same dies). Nicely toned and of very attractive Classical style. Very light pitting and minor corrosion on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
